Man arrested after female confined, assaulted for days in Brandon
A man has been charged with offences including assault and uttering threats after a female showed up at a hospital after being held captive for two days, Brandon police say.
Police got a report on Tuesday just after 6:30 p.m. that on Saturday, the female had made it to the hospital after escaping “two days of assault, threats and forcible confinement,” the Brandon Police Service said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police did not say whether the victim was an adult or a child.
The female was held at a home on 8th Street near Van Horne Avenue, police said. A 44-year-old man was later arrested at his home, and the female’s property, which police said had been taken away, was recovered when the man was arrested.
The man is also charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and failure to comply with a release order, police said.
