2 drivers seriously injured in crash between truck, semi on Highway 1 in Manitoba
The drivers of a truck and a semi-trailer truck are in hospital with serious injures after a crash in the rural municipality of Cartier on Wednesday morning, RCMP say.
The truck driver lost control due to icy conditions on a bridge, crossed the median and crashed into a semi-trailer truck on Highway 1 around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, police said in an email.
The truck was travelling west on the highway and hit the eastbound semi in the RM of Cartier, about 15 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
The semi went off the road and ended up partially in water in the south ditch, RCMP said.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 1 at the bridge over the Assiniboine River near St. François Xavier remain closed.
Police continue to investigate.
