Eastbound lane of Logan Avenue still closed after water main break in Winnipeg’s Weston neighbourhood
City crews are cleaning up after a severe water main break in Winnipeg’s Weston neighbourhood.
Water flowed down Logan Avenue, between McPhillips and Yeomans streets, on Friday, which resulted in stalled vehicles and traffic delays during the morning commute, the city’s traffic management centre X account said.
The break occurred on McPhillips Street and the city is working toward isolating the leak, it said in an email to CBC.
One eastbound lane on Logan Avenue, between McPhillips and Weston streets, will remain closed until further notice.
The city expects repairs will be completed Saturday or Sunday.
The city cautioned that residents in the area might experience discoloured water, which should not be used for drinking, laundry or preparing food and beverages.
Residents concerned about discoloured water should turn on the cold water tap in their bathtub and let it run for a few minutes. If the water isn’t clear, the city says to turn off the tap and try again in 30 minutes.
If water isn’t clear in two or three hours, the city recommends contacting 311.
