Winnipeg man’s arrest leads to seizure of illegal weapons, stolen camping gear: police
Winnipeg Police found multiple illegal weapons and stolen camping items after arresting a man at a traffic stop.
On Oct. 26, Winnipeg police’s property crime unit started investigating a theft at a storage facility at 100 Speers Rd, according to a Monday news release. Then on Nov. 25, police stopped a vehicle reported as stolen and linked to the theft, and arrested a 43-year-old man.
When police searched the vehicle, they found a loaded Glock handgun, ammunition, break-in tools and clothing matching the robbery, the release said.
Police then executed a search warrant on two storage lockers on Archibald Street, where they found multiple stolen camping items, including headlamps, camping tents and hip waders.
As the investigation continued, police say they also found two airsoft pistols, one .22 calibre rifle and a crossbow.
The man has been charged on multiple counts, including possessing prohibited firearms, breaking and entering and theft, and was detained in custody.
