2 charged after shotgun fired into home: Police
Two people are facing more than 15 charges combined after shots rang out at a home in Winnipeg’s William Whyte neighbourhood early Thursday morning.
Police said they received a report about gunshots in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue around 12:45 a.m. When officers arrived, they said they found two suspects next to a black Jeep Compass in a nearby back lane. Both people were taken into custody.
As officers were approaching the pair, they said they saw one of the suspects throw something away, which turned out to be a loaded cap gun. After police searched the vehicle, they found a sawed-off shotgun with one spent round of ammunition and eight additional shotgun shells.
An investigation revealed the two suspects were behind a home, before the male suspect went to the front and fired the shotgun through the window.
No one was injured, and the suspects and the victim weren’t known to each other, police said.
Jordan Paul Brown, 31, and Kiah Leigh Danyluk, 28, both from Winnipeg, were charged with 16 weapon-related offences in total. They also faced Highway Traffic Act offences, including driving without a licence and liability insurance.
The pair was detained in custody and the charges haven’t been tested in court.
