31-year-old wanted in death of Peguis First Nation man: Winnipeg police

A manslaughter warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old man in the killing of a Peguis First Nation man, who died after he was found in critical condition in the city’s North End last month.

Police are asking for help to find Karl Earl Settee, who they say is a suspect in the killing of Shawn Douglas Thomas, 33, who is from Peguis but was living in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

He was found just after 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 by Winnipeg police officers responding to a call about an unresponsive man on College Avenue, off Sinclair Street.

He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead, police previously said.

In an update Thursday, they said Settee is now wanted in connection with Thomas’s death.

The public is asked to not approach Settee if he’s spotted, but instead to contact police at 204-986-6508.
