Body found floating in Red River north of Winnipeg

RCMP are trying to identify a person who was found dead in the Red River. The cause of death was not criminal, police said.

A person was found dead, floating in the Red River just outside of Winnipeg, over the weekend. 

Selkirk RCMP officers were called to investigate reports of a body floating down the Red River near Henderson Highway and Sulker Avenue in the rural municipality of East St. Paul around 1 p.m. on Saturday, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday. 

Police said an autopsy was done and the person’s cause of death is “not criminal in nature.”

Selkirk RCMP are still trying to identify the deceased person.
