COVID-19 update coming after hospitalizations reached new high over weekend

More than a week after the most severe pandemic restrictions came into effect, Manitobans continue to watch for falling case numbers and other signs that public health measures have had their desired effect.

A boy under 10 is now the youngest person to die of COVID-19 in Manitoba, health officials announced on Saturday. Hospitalizations due the virus broke a new record on Sunday, as the province continued to add hundreds of new cases to its total. 

Two Manitoba churches, Church of God and Springs Church, held drive-in services over the weekend, in violation of public health orders capping gatherings at five people and ordering religious services to move online.
