Cyclist seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in North Kildonan

A 68-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a vehicle on northeast Winnipeg residential street Friday afternoon, police say.

Officers were called to the collision at Springfield Road and Karen Street, in the North Kildonan area, around 3:25 p.m., a Saturday news release said.

They believe the cyclist was hit by a passenger vehicle at the intersection. The driver remained at the scene and co-operated with police.

The cyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition. His condition has since been upgraded to stable condition, but he has serious injuries, police said. 

The police service’s traffic division continues to investigate.
