Man, 54, charged after 2 teen girls confined, sexually assaulted in Winnipeg hotel room
A 54-year-old man has been charged after two teens were confined in a downtown hotel room and sexually assaulted, Winnipeg police say.
Officers went to a downtown Winnipeg hotel on Saturday after a teen girl requested help, police said in a Tuesday news release.
The teen said an adult man had sexually assaulted her and a friend, who was also in her teens, and that her friend was still in the room with him.
The man fled out of the second-storey window when police got to the room. He was taken into custody and later transported to hospital in stable condition.
Both of the teens were taken to hospital in stable condition, police say.
Police believe that the man accused approached the two teens and their friend, an adult woman, on Friday on Main Street, between Jarvis and Sutherland avenues.
The two teens and their friend went to a hotel suite with the man, where he gave them alcohol and drugs, before they left later that night, police say.
Around 7 a.m. Saturday, the accused approached the teens on Main Street again, before they went back to the hotel and were given more alcohol and drugs, police say.
The man prevented the teens from leaving the room before they were physically and sexually assaulted, police say.
One of the girls was able to escape the room before police were contacted.
A 54-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences in connection to the incident, including two counts of sexual assault, two counts of forcible confinement, assault, obtaining sexual services for consideration, possessing cocaine.
He has been detained in custody.
