Man dies after stabbing near downtown Winnipeg elementary school

A man stabbed near an elementary school in downtown Winnipeg on Tuesday morning has died.

Police holding news conference at 1 p.m. to release more information

A man stabbed near an elementary school in downtown Winnipeg on Tuesday morning has died.

Police were called just before noon to Kennedy Street, between Cumberland and Sargent avenues, just before noon on Tuesday.

CBC News saw emergency personnel performing CPR on a man lying on a stretcher about a half-block from Sister MacNamara Elementary School.

The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.

There is no word on whether anyone has been arrested.

Police are holding a news conference at 1 p.m. at the downtown headquarters to release more information.
