Winnipeg police major crime unit investigators are piecing together what happened to a man who was seriously assaulted early Saturday morning.
Police have secured and remain at a scene on the west side of Main Street at Euclid Avenue on the edge of the Lord Selkirk Park neighbourhood. Four people — two males and two females— are in custody in connection with the attack, according to police.
Winnipeg Police Service spokesperson Const. Jason Michalyshen said police found the man around 5 a.m. with “substantial, very serious” upper-body injuries.
They provided first aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to hospital in unstable condition. He has since been upgraded to stable, Michalyshen said.
The connection between the man, who police believe to be in his 50s, and the suspects is unknown at this time, he said. Charges are pending against the suspects.
