Girl, 13, who went missing in Portage la Prairie last week has been found, RCMP say

A 13-year-old girl who was reported last seen in Portage la Prairie early Friday has now been located and is safe, police say.

The teen was reported missing to Portage la Prairie RCMP around 11 p.m. on Thursday, a news release said Saturday.

She left a home on 11th Street NW in the city around 10 that night and was seen briefly just after midnight on June 7, but then all communication dropped off, police said in the news release.

Extensive patrols of the community were done by RCMP, but the girl remained missing, police said on Saturday.

RCMP released no information about when or where she was located.

A previous version of this story included the girl’s name and photograph. Those have since been removed to protect her privacy now that she is no longer missing.
