NFL star Travis Kelce sports Blue Bombers jersey to show support ahead of CFL western final

Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros says he asked his former university roommate Travis Kelce to do him a favour.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion, but he’s even better known as the guy dating Taylor Swift.

The NFL star wore Collaros’s No. 8 Bombers jersey in the latest episode of his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We thought it would be a cool idea to send him some gear,” Collaros told reporters during a Thursday scrum.

“I was talking to Trav and Jay, and I’m like, ‘Yo, we’re going to play the west final. If you can during the week, it’ll be cool for the [CFL] if you were like, “Hey, we’re supporting the Bombers.”‘”

The Bombers will play either the B.C. Lions or Saskatchewan Roughriders for the West Division title at Winnipeg’s Princess Auto Stadium on Nov. 9.

Collaros says he’s been good friends with Jason and Travis since they were roommates at the University of Cincinnati.

“Those guys are supportive, of course. We’ve been friends for a long time.”

A bobblehead figure of Collaros sat behind Travis in the podcast episode, alongside other sports memorabilia.

“That’s the coolest part,” Collaros said.

Even Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew weighed in on the spectacle during Wednesday’s question period in the legislature.

“I noticed Travis Kelce wearing a Blue Bombers jersey today. Travis, you’re just like us. We are huge fans of Zach Collaros,” Kinew said.

“Please consider this an open invitation to visit Manitoba at any time to cheer on the Bombers. And if you come, please bring Taylor.”
