Stonewall RCMP find car believed to have been taken from property where human remains discovered
Manitoba Mounties have located a vehicle that matches the description of one they believe was taken from a rural property where human remains were found last week.
Stonewall RCMP got a tip from the public on Tuesday about the location of a grey 2007 Saturn Ion, which led them to an address in Winnipeg where they found the vehicle, a Wednesday news release said.
RCMP previously said they were called to a house off Highway 7 in the rural municipality of Rockwood last Thursday morning.
A friend of the person living there went to check on the resident the evening before but couldn’t find them. They found the body in an area outside the home when they went back the next morning, an RCMP spokesperson told CBC last week.
RCMP said they could not confirm whose remains had been found, but said the death is believed to have occurred within the last month and is being treated as suspicious.
They later asked for the public’s help in finding the grey 2007 Saturn Ion, which they believe was removed from the property at some point in the last month.
Police said Wednesday they took the car into their possession and it will be examined further.
