Winnipeg man, 27, charged in string of sexual assaults
A Winnipeg man has been charged with nine counts of sexual assault after multiple women reported being groped from behind by a stranger.
Police say most of the incidents happened over the course of four days between Sept. 25 to Sept. 28.
Two assaults happened on Balmoral Street south of Broadway with an hour of each other on Sept. 25.
The following day, another woman was assaulted on Ellice Avenue and Hargrave Street just before 10 p.m.
Then on Sept. 27, the suspect assaulted a 37-year-old woman on Edmonton Street, and later assaulted a 36-year-old woman near Corydon Avenue and Nassau Street North.
Another assault, involving two 24-year-old women, took place on Sept. 28 near Osborne Street and Granite Way.
Police believe the same man was also behind the assault of a 19-year-old woman behind a retail store on Kenaston Boulevard in June.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on Sunday at a home on Sterling Lyon Parkway near Kenaston Boulevard, says a news release from the Winnipeg Police Service.
He is facing nine charges of sexual assault. He was released on an undertaking.
