Winnipeg police investigate incident involving at least two vehicles on Osborne Street

Winnipeg police sectioned off the scene of an incident involving at least two vehicles spanning a few blocks of Osborne Street on Saturday evening.

Yellow tape surrounded an area between Woodward and Brandon avenues.

The Winnipeg Police Service has yet to release details regarding the circumstances of the incident.

A CBC reporter saw officers attending to a damaged truck that was stopped near the intersection of Osborne Street and Brandon Avenue. Multiple officers placed evidence markers on the ground near the truck.

Police also investigated a second vehicle near the intersection.

An SUV was stopped near a church’s entrance ramp and stairs which were both damaged. The front of the vehicle was smashed in.

Bruce Huston, an area resident, said he heard what sounded like a “horrendous crash” and rushed outside from his home to see what had happened. He saw officers attending to people at the scene where multiple ambulances had been called.

“It was nothing but police cars every which way, I mean, you couldn’t even move, they blocked off the whole area,” Huston said.

“It was unbelievable.”

There’s been no word from police yet on how many people were hurt or the nature of their injuries.

Police are expected to release information on the incident later on Sunday.
