A woman, 18, was punched and prevented from leaving a house on Wednesday by her machete-wielding boyfriend on Wednesday, Brandon police say.

A woman, 18, was punched and prevented from leaving a house on Wednesday by her machete-wielding boyfriend on Wednesday, Brandon police say.

The woman was able to leave while the man was in the shower, and made it to a safe location, according to a Friday police news release.

Officers were notified of the incident just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. They arrested the man and seized weapons found in the house.

Family members came to the home and picked up children who were there.
