The city looks set to accept a $7.4-million settlement to cover repairs from water damage at the new Winnipeg Police Service headquarters.
Council’s finance committee voted to approve the settlement Thursday, which will also end court action over an insurance claim after a rain storm caused the building to flood in August 2014. The city had hoped to claim about $8 million for the damages.
A city report notes the insurers have paid out more than $6.8 million so far. The settlement still requires full council approval.
