Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Ashton Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:38 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 0-100 block of Ashton Avenue.
When crews arrived, they encountered a well-involved fire with flames and smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 5:27 a.m.
All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Crews transported three patients to hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
Leila Avenue temporarily closed this weekend

Winnipeg, MB – Eastbound Leila Avenue through the intersection at McPhillips Street will be temporarily closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 24 until 9 a.m. on Monday, October 26 for a water main repair.
Motorists must use alternate routes while this closure is in place.
