Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Lansdowne Avenue and Simcoe Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:01 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a garage in the 600 block of Lansdowne Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered flames coming from the garage. Crews launched a defensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:37 p.m.
No injuries were reported. No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Simcoe Street
At 9:17 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant home in the 600 block of Simcoe Street.
When crews arrived on scene, there were flames coming from the home. Crews launched a defensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 11:23 p.m. Occupants in neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures; they have since been able to return to their homes.
No injuries were reported. No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Drivers in the area should use caution as the water used to fight the fire covered the road and has now frozen. City crews will be monitoring the area and will be applying sand and de-icing agents as required.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Langside Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:24 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a multi-unit residence in the 100 block of Langside Street.
When crews arrived on scene, flames were coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, until deteriorating conditions forced crews to transition to a defensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 9:44 p.m.
Crews rescued one patient from the building and the patient was transported to hospital in stable condition. Crews searched the building and confirmed there was no one inside. Neighbouring homes on either side were temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
