A  42-year-old man from Canupawakpa Dakota Nation is dead and a 36-year-old woman is charged with manslaughter.

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service was called just after 9 p.m. on July 26 with a report of a sudden death at a residence in the community in western Manitoba, just south of Virden.

The man had obvious injuries, according to the RCMP, who have taken over the investigation.

The woman, who is also from Canupawakpa Dakota Nation, was charged on Monday.
