A Winnipeg man faces a slew of charges after nearly $300,000 worth of items were stolen from several West End-area businesses, which also suffered about $50,000 in damages, police say.

The commercial businesses were broken into numerous times between June 18 to August 8, police said in a news release Sunday.

There were also a number of vehicles stolen during the string of break-ins, of which many were taken from the vandalized businesses.

A 38-year-old man has been charged in connection to the crime spree, police say.

He faces numerous charges, including 29 counts of break-and-enter related charges, three counts of possessing property worth over $5,000 that was obtained by crime, robbery, possession of a weapon and three counts of fraud under $5,000, according to police.

The man has been detained in custody.
