Nearly 3,000 households, businesses without power after outages hit Winnipeg, Springfield

More than 2,900 Manitoba Hydro customers were without power in southern Manitoba Friday morning due to more than 30 outages.

Manitoba Hydro said on its website that 12 outages cut power to about 2,150 customers in Winnipeg, and almost 800 in the rural municipality of Springfield were affected due to five more outages.

Another 15 customers were in the dark in St. Clements, East St. Paul, Stuartburn, Rhineland, Headingley, WestLake-Gladstone, Brokenhead, De Salaberry, Taché and the rural municipality of Ste. Anne, a list of outages on the hydro website showed as of 7:20 a.m.

Hydro spokesperson Bruce Owen said in an email that crews are working to repair the outages in Winnipeg.
