RCMP officers from several communities are searching for a group of five people gone missing on Lake Winnipeg.
Police said the group left Pine Dock, Man., located in the northernmost section of Lake Winnipeg’s lower basin, in an aluminum boat on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and were heading to Poplar River but never arrived.
The missing boat was reported to police Saturday at 10 p.m. Police said there were four females and one male on board.
The Mounties said they have several boats in the water, and helicopters and float planes are assisting.
The military is also chipping in with a Hercules plane from CFB Trenton.
Police said the search is ongoing.
